interior design 04 (picture framing)

okay, so i have this drawing (see last entry) and i knew i wanted to frame it from scratch. i am sort-of (plain) particular, i know i can do it & i like collections. so....when things in my house get moved (which they very often do) they can settle into their new spot easily aka everything has some sort of coordinating element that will work together.
i found an easy way to make a boxy frame without owning a router. i buy corner molding, mitre cut the wood to size, sand off any burrs (or whatever they call it on wood) & use wood glue to get two of the sides together with the help of an angle clamp.

i then take the 2 half finished sides and use a nifty band clamp to hold it all in place while i glue the final corners in place (perfectly aligned) and put in some vnails.
this is when i stain or paint (suppose to do it prior but i like to know if it is going to work, before putting in the extra effort). cut the glass while letting the wood dry then pop it in the frame (windex & lots of canned air).
you should have some space between the drawing and the glass but...this drawing wasn't square. the bottom left edge popped out at an angle about 1/4" (made math very confusing till i figured that the error was literal). so... i had to hide it by bringing the frame in closer to get it all squared up.
i used some acid free davey board to firm it up (for book binding but it is on hand & no mat cuz it would be so gross w/ this piece) then locked it all into place w/backing nails.
my favorite touch is to spread binding glue around the back edge of the frame, plop it down onto some oversized heavy kraft paper then cut it to size; directly on the back edge of the frame with an sharp blade. hammer down a sawtooth hanger, add some museum goo to the corners and find a wall.
